These terms explain how the Hear Flat website, downloads, checkout, license keys, activations, and refunds work.
Hear Flat is provided by The Black Boxx. By using the Hear Flat website, downloading the installer, purchasing Hear Flat Pro, activating a license, or using the plugin, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not purchase, download, activate, or use Hear Flat.
Hear Flat is a Windows VST3 audio plugin for personal headphone calibration by ear. Compatibility can depend on your operating system, DAW, plugin host, audio hardware, and system configuration. The free version is available so you can test installation and core workflow before buying Pro.
The free version includes the core calibration workflow. Hear Flat Pro unlocks paid features such as saving curves, using the Curve Library, managing multiple headphone profiles, autosave recovery, and future updates that are provided for the Pro tier.
When you purchase Hear Flat Pro, you receive a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use the software. You may not resell, share, sublicense, publish, rent, lease, or distribute your license key or activation files.
Each Hear Flat Pro license may be activated on up to two active machines for the same purchaser, such as a studio computer and a laptop. License keys are not intended for teams, public sharing, resale, or use by unrelated users. If you replace a computer or need help with activations, contact support.
Hear Flat Pro licenses are validated through the Black Boxx licensing service. Local activation files are machine-bound and use a signed activation receipt. Copying, editing, bypassing, or attempting to defeat licensing, activation, or feature-gating systems is not permitted.
Payments are processed through Stripe Checkout. The Black Boxx does not store full payment card numbers on its licensing server. Stripe may process transaction data under its own Privacy Policy and applicable Stripe consumer terms, including terms that apply to checkout, payment processing, Link, or other Stripe services you choose to use. Your charge may appear as PIRX Capital LLC, the company behind The Black Boxx.
Hear Flat is delivered digitally. After checkout, the installer is available from the website and the Pro license key is delivered by email. Because the software and license can be accessed and used immediately, refund handling is different from a physical product return.
Refund requests should be made within 14 days of purchase. Refunds may be approved for duplicate purchases, accidental duplicate charges, unauthorized or fraudulent transactions, or a technical issue that prevents installation, activation, or normal use after reasonable support troubleshooting.
Once a license has been delivered, activated, and used successfully, refunds are generally not available for buyer's remorse, no longer needing the product, completing desired headphone profiles, changing equipment, failing to review compatibility, or deciding to stop using the plugin, except where required by law.
If a refund is issued, the related license may be revoked, activations may be disabled, and continued use of Hear Flat Pro features is no longer permitted.
If you lose your license key, you may use the license recovery page to request a replacement key at the purchase email address. Replacement keys may rotate the previous key, which means the old key may stop working for new activations.
You agree not to misuse the website, checkout, downloads, license recovery, activation system, or support channels. This includes automated abuse, attempts to bypass rate limits, attempts to access private files, reverse engineering for license circumvention, or using another person's license without permission.
Hear Flat is a calibration and workflow tool. It does not guarantee perfect headphone neutrality, professional mix translation, commercial success, hearing accuracy, or a particular audio result. Calibration quality depends on your headphones, hearing, listening level, environment, and judgment.
The Black Boxx may update the website, installer, plugin, licensing service, pricing, features, terms, refund policy, or support process. Future updates are offered when available but are not a guarantee that every future feature, platform, plugin format, or major version will be included forever.
Hear Flat, The Black Boxx branding, website content, plugin code, documentation, images, and related materials are owned by The Black Boxx or its licensors. Purchasing Hear Flat Pro gives you a license to use the software; it does not transfer ownership of the software or brand assets.
Hear Flat is provided as-is and as-available to the fullest extent permitted by law. The Black Boxx does not promise uninterrupted service, error-free operation, compatibility with every host, or that every issue can be corrected.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, The Black Boxx will not be liable for indirect, incidental, consequential, special, or punitive damages, including lost profits, lost projects, lost data, lost business, or audio production losses related to use of Hear Flat.
The Black Boxx may suspend or revoke a license or access to services if a license is refunded, charged back, disputed, shared, abused, obtained fraudulently, or used in violation of these terms.
